Hi, my name is Ralf Deutsch.
I am a co-owner and the cruise director on the GAYA BARU INDAH. For over 20 years I have been a passionate scuba diving instructor. I successfully operated my first dive shop on Jeju Island, Korea from 2001 to 2018. In 2018 I felt it was time for a change, decided to move to Indonesia and found a new home in Raja Ampat.

BIG BLUE INDONESIA was founded by a group of diving enthusiasts from Germany, France, Korea and Canada. We rebuilt the traditional sailing Phinisi KLM GAYA BARU INDAH for diving in 2018. On GAYA BARU INDAH we offer affordable liveaboard cruises for budget conscious divers and small groups in the Papua and Maluku provinces of Indonesia. Raja Ampat is our main area of operation. Unlike many other operators, we are permanently based in Raja Ampat. We buy as much of our supplies as possible from local farmers, fisherman and traders and contribute to the local community as part of our effort to support sustainable tourism.
Our focus is first class diving and providing an unforgettable experience for our guests.
We are conservation minded and promote a strict no touch approach to diving.
Our permanent crew is multi lingual and speaks English, German, Korean and Indonesian.
Guests can also book our boat for a private charter. This is ideal for a family or group of friends who wants to enjoy privacy and a custom tailored cruising route. We can accommodate your diving and snorkeling needs as well as land excursions, bird watching and island hoping. Please inquire here and let us know what you have in mind.
